Look what we were talked into...

I still can't believe those kids talked us into getting a kitten. The kids named him Thomas. They said he had to fit in with all the T's. He is a crazy little cat. Right now he is trying to attack my fingers while I type this post. The kids can think of nothing else but Thomas. Poor Thomas gets a little too much love. Telsey wants to hand feed him every piece of food he eats, Trae wants to arm wrestle, and Taidryn just goes through the house saying "Oh titty, titty, titty... Oh titty, titty, titty" (translation "here kitty, kitty, kitty") in an extremely loud high pitched voice. Gosh it must be nice to be Thomas.

Goodbye Miami

I am in LOVE with Miami. I can't ever put into words why I have that love but it is a combo between the people, the challenge, and the weather. I miss Miami and all my amazing friends. I miss all the crazy drivers. I miss the humble and kind people I chatted with while running my errands. I miss seeing the ocean every day. I miss Miami. Here is a picture of our going away party in Flamingo Park. Thank you to all the friends who loved me. Goodbye Miami and a big hello to Orlando.

The Move

The day of the move we still hadn't heard if our loan was approved for our home. Given our financial ruin I didn't blame the lender for taking his or her sweet time making a decision, but come now, that is cutting it a little close. We loaded up the moving truck and started our drive from Miami to Orlando praying that all would fall into place. While on the road, an hour outside of Orlando, we got the call from the lender that our loan was approved. We signed the papers, were given the keys, and drove to our first home. I love our house. Before you look at the pictures I have to let you know that I am aware that the walls are way CRAZY colors and YES we will repaint. :)

The Surprise

The day before we moved to Orlando Ty and I were asked to attend an event for OBGYNs. We were both a little hesitant to attend because we had so much to pack for our move. Ty enquired as to what the event entailed to see if it was really necessary for us to be there. He couldn't get any straight answers so we thought it best to attend. To our surprise Ty was presented with the Joseph A. Decenzo, M.D. award from The University of Miami School of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology for the best performance by a graduating medical student who has made a career choice of Obstetrics and Gynecology. I was very proud of Ty. He worked very hard and it was nice to see him recognized. Also, the $1000 could not have come at a better time.

The Big Graduation Day

It is done!!! Medical school is behind Ty forever. I am so proud of him. His graduation was a very special day that we will never forget. Thank you to all the family (Mom, Dad, Nanny, Pop, Gigi, Ken, Joan, John, Carley, Hannah, Cohen, and Kennedy) who flew across the country to show their support for Ty.

Did I mention our Cruise??? ;)

Yes ma'am!!! We went on a cruise at the beginning of May and dang gina did we ever LOVE that get away. Don't even think about asking if we brought the kids with us. NO! Just Ty and Trista. :) We did a Southern Caribbean cruise starting in Barbados and ending in Ft. Lauderdale.

Day 1: Barbados
We walked off the stairs of the airplane right onto the runway. Our AA plane was the only commercial airline in the airport. The people were so friendly!!! We were too cheap to pay the taxi fare to our hotel so we read online that you can take the city bus for $1.50. Heck yes! The Barbadians showed us where the bus was, which bus to take, how to pay the bus driver, how far to take the bus, and detailed instructions on how to walk down the block to find our hotel. Nicest people I ever met. Our hotel was right on the sand and absolutely perfect.

Day 2: Barbados
Horseback riding here we come. Ever since I was a child I have had this obsession with horses. Ty and I each picked an activity while we were on the cruise. He picked yacht racing, as you will see later, and I picked horseback riding. Our 2 and a half hour horseback ride was both breathtaking and slightly scary. The island of Barbados is full of rolling grassy hills and beautiful beaches. What I didn't know is that the horses on the island are spirited. My horse had a mind of its own. I even got kicked in the leg by our guide's horse. It didn't really hurt it just scared the horse obsession right out of me. :)

Day 3:
St. Vincent
The ship sailed all night to bring us to St. Vincent. We woke up with the ship sitting in the most beautiful bay surrounded by tall lush mountains. Being cheap...we decided to explore the island by foot. We started walking and walked some more. The natives looked at us like we were straight up crazy white folk. The picture of the ship was taken from atop a mountain that we climbed. This beautiful picture left a lasting impression on my legs. They were so sore for the next few days. Also, as it was Sunday, we kept our eyes open for a church to attend. Look what we found. Ty even gave the closing prayer.

Day 4:
Dominica
On this beautiful island we walked along the rocky coast to get to the black sand beach.

Day 5:
Antigua
Here we checked out a gorgeous cathedral. As soon as we arrived it started down pouring rain. It was sad to see water leaking through the roof and pouring through open windows onto the historic wooden pews.

Day 6:
St. Maarten
St. Maarten was so RAD! This was the island where Ty chose an activity. He chose for us to be in a yacht race. The yachts actually raced in the America's Cup during the 1980's! For our activity there were three yachts and three teams. We raced in the U.S. yacht called Stars and Stripes against two Canadian boats. Each of us on a team were given a job to make the boat work. Ty and I were primary grinders which meant we had to turn a handle really fast while the boat felt like it was going to tip over. Ty cranked the handle so fast he almost passed out, but we did move from third place to second place during that time. Seriously, Ty's lips were so white I thought he was going to faint. I have never been on a racing yacht and I have to admit it was extremely intense. While the boat was turning, one side of the boat would be high in the air while the other side was dragging in the water. We had to hold on to what was called the "life line" so we wouldn't fall out. Such a blast. I would recommend this activity to anyone and everyone who visits St. Martin. Check out their website: http://www.12metre.com/
P.S. Our team came in first place. :)

Day 7: At Sea
Hangin' out on the boat.

Day 8: Princess Key.... or at sea
Our ship broke so we didn't get to stop at Princess Key. I am serious. The ship couldn't go fast enough to make it to Princess Keys and make it to Ft. Lauderdale on time so we had to skip our last stop. It was ok. We had fun on the boat.

Fairchild Botanical Garden

Ok!!! Time to get back with the blog. Things have been a bit crazy but enough of that... on to the goods. Back in April we went to Fairchild Botanical Gardens with the kidlets and Hannah. The gardens were displayed beautifully. I loved the arch ways with several different types of vines growing on them. So romantic. I wanted to bust out a table for two with candles and enjoy a gourmet dinner with Ty. :)

On our way to church

Sometimes I look at my kids and think they don't look at all like Ty. Just kidding.

Is it seriously already Easter!?!?

Welcome Auntie Hannah

We are excited to have Auntie Hannah visiting us. The kids are in love with her. No outing is perfect unless their Auntie is along. Telsey and Trae usually sit next to each other at the dinner table, but now that Hannah is here they insist on Hannah sitting right between them. Poor Hannah hardly has room to lift her fork to her mouth with her two new sidekicks sandwiched next to her. Through it all Hannah smiles and assures them she is enjoying them next to her. Too cute. Here are a few pictures of Hannah, Trae, and Ty kayaking in the bay.
